According to the Public Relations and International Affairs of the Kish Free Zone Organization, Mohammad Kabiri at the annual ordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Kish Free Zone Ports and Airports Development and Management Company, which was held with the attendance of all members of the assembly, emphasized the determination of the company’s strategic missions within the framework of the assembly’s resolutions.
Referring to the planned development programs, he said: conducting a comprehensive study of hinterland development with an approach of balanced development between Chark and Aftab must be placed on the agenda so that, guided by a consultant, Chark becomes the border for the export development of Kish Free Zone’s goods and Aftab becomes the main passenger transit hub.
The CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization added: obtaining the related border permits should also be included as duties of the assembly so that their implementation in the coming year can be evaluated by the auditor.
Kabiri, stressing the improvement of transportation services, said: increasing the quality of passenger and maritime and land transport services must be pursued as one of the company’s main duties and a specific operational plan should be presented for it.
He stated that the Ports and Airports Development and Management Company is not merely responsible for operating a single port and airport, and said: this company is in fact the Kish Logistics Development Company and is responsible for creating communication arteries and facilitating passengers’ access to the island from various routes.
The CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization continued: drafting and implementing a comprehensive program to facilitate land and sea travel to Kish from the southern provinces of the country must be placed on the agenda, and even issues such as resolving access route problems, including the Aftab Port road, should be phased and pursued within the comprehensive plan.
Kabiri also emphasized the necessity of improving maritime transport services and said: the program to purchase passenger vessels, whether independently or through capital increase with the participation of the Shipping Company and also by using the capacity of the private sector, must be pursued.
He listed the full smartification of Kish Airport and ports among other priorities and said: drafting and implementing a comprehensive smartification program for these two entities must be included in the assembly’s duties so that services are provided to passengers with higher quality and speed.
The CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization, referring to the development of the island’s international connections, said: increasing the number of foreign maritime and air entry points to Kish should also be pursued in accordance with existing conditions and capacities.
Kabiri considered the use of renewable energies as another strategic program of the company and added: given the implementation of a three-megawatt solar power plant adjacent to the port and airport, the company must plan and negotiate for the construction of new solar power plants and the supply of electricity to these facilities through clean energy; an action that, in addition to increasing network resilience, is also important from the perspective of passive defense.
The CEO of the Kish Free Zone Organization concluded by thanking the efforts of the managers and staff of the Ports and Airports Development and Management Company and said: given the post-war conditions, creating sustainable revenues is one of the most important priorities for the coming year and it is expected that revenue-generating projects will be implemented according to priority so that the resulting resources are invested in developing the island’s infrastructure.
Kabiri noted: projects that have faster economic returns should be prioritized so that after generating sustainable revenues, the necessary resources for implementing other development projects are also provided.
At the end of the assembly, the company’s performance report was reviewed and the duties for the coming year in the areas of logistics development, improvement of passenger services, smartification, clean energies and creating sustainable revenues were summarized.
